Pages and accounts on social media shared a video claiming it showed a ceremony organized by the Syrian government to honor the wives of ISIS members who had fled the al-Hol camp, in areas of the al-Bakara villages west of Deir ez-Zor.

Analyzing the visible elements in the scene and running a reverse image search to trace the footage showed that the video documents a ceremony honoring female Quran memorizers among the daughters of the Hashemite al-Bakara tribe, held in the town of al-Kasra in the western Deir ez-Zor countryside as part of the Ihsan Quran memorization institute, and is unrelated to honoring the wives of ISIS members.
Why is this claim misleading?
Video out of context: The clip was stripped from its original occasion and tied to a different narrative that neither its visible elements nor its original source support.
