The truth about Syrian military reinforcements heading toward the Lebanese border

Pages on social media circulated a video clip that its publishers claimed documents the arrival of military reinforcements belonging to the Syrian army heading toward the Lebanese border.

Kashaf’s team traced the circulating video clip and broke it into still frames to conduct a reverse search to establish its truth, and it became clear that the video is old and taken out of its original context, as it was published on social media platforms on 12 February 2026 under the title “Circulating scenes of the Syrian army’s deployment on the Syrian-Iraqi border,” which refutes any link between the video and the Lebanese border or any recent military movements toward it.

Why is this claim misleading?

Re-sharing an old video in a different context: The video clip, taken from earlier military movements by the Syrian army toward the Iraqi border last February, was circulated and incorrectly attributed to the Lebanese border to suggest the existence of field escalation or new movements in that area.
