Preferring primary sources and explaining the limits of secondary sources when they are used.

Explaining why we chose the claim, how we verified it, and which tools were used.

Separating editorial decisions from any funding considerations or partnerships, and disclosing conflicts of interest.

A commitment to correcting errors clearly and in a way the public can review.

Adhering to copyright, fair use, and licenses, while citing the source.

Claim-selection policy

Kashaf selects its material according to the following criteria: reach، public importance، impact and harm، verifiability، وcoverage balance. The full details are on the methodology page.

Source policy

  • Secondary media coverage is not treated as "conclusive evidence" in itself.
  • Returning wherever possible to the primary source (a statement, document, recording, database, or digital evidence).
  • Explaining the reason for using any secondary source and its limits.

Image and media use policy

  • Choosing clear, relevant images and labeling them: (illustrative / archival / screenshot / from the source).
  • Respecting copyright and citing the source and license where available.
  • Avoiding graphic images except for editorial necessity, kept to a minimum and with a clear warning.

AI tools use policy

Assistive tools, not a substitute for human review

The Kashaf platform uses AI tools as aids for monitoring, analysis, and technical verification, and does not rely on them as a source of truth or as a substitute for human review. The platform is committed to clearly disclosing to the public any visual material that was produced or modified using these tools.
